Francesco Cerchiaro

FWO senior fellow at KU Leuven (University of Leuven) in Belgium. He is working at the Centre for Sociological Research (CeSO) within the research unit « Theory, Culture and Religion ». He is currently the P.I. of an FWO project on the role of mixed couples’ associations in the public sphere (in Italy, France and Belgium). Previously, from February 2018 until February 2020, he was a Marie Skłodowska-Curie fellow (always at KU Leuven) with a project entitled “ReMix – Christian-Muslim families dealing with religious pluralism in everyday family life: Religious reconstruction in religiously mixed marriages” which investigated the daily life of Christian-Muslim couples in Belgium.

He has planned a short term fieldwork period in Paris (mid-January – mid-February 2022) to condense some ethnography and interviews,  combined with a visiting at Sorbonne University within GEMASS, in particular with Professor Beate Collet in light of their common research interests on mixed families.
