6 novembre 2026. Appel à projets 2026 de la Fondation pour la recherche médicale : le Gemass partenaire du projet “Deciphering the impact of air pollution on placental biology” (36 mois) retenu pour financement.
Un projet multidisciplinaire coordonné par Pierre-Antoine DEFOSSEZ (CNRS) avec un consortium réunissant les équipes dirigées par Guillermo ORSI (Inserm), Michel DUBOIS (CNRS), Raymond COINTE (Ineris), Johana LEPEULE (Inserm).
Abstract. Air pollution is a major environmental determinant of health, with prenatal exposure associated with adverse pregnancy outcomes and long-term disease risk. Recent epidemiological work, including our consortium’s study of over 1,500 mother–child pairs, shows that prenatal air pollution exposure is linked to widespread changes in placental DNA methylation, with sex- and trimester-specific effects. However, the underlying mechanisms, causal nature, and social determinants remain unclear. This project aims to elucidate how prenatal air pollution shapes placental biology and early-life health by integrating epidemiology, molecular biology, experimental models, and social sciences.
