ABM-SOC-NET 2021: a CNRS Thematic School on Agent-based Modeling for Sociologists with Netlogo, 21-26 November 2021

ABM-SOC-NET 2021 provides a theoretical, methodological and technical training in agent-based modeling (ABM) for sociologists. The winter school combines general lectures (in the morning) with practical classes (in the afternoon). General lectures cover the history, the epistemology, the types, the crucial methodological steps of ABM as well as ABM applications to important sociological topics. On the other hand, practical classes introduce attendees to all the basic programming build-blocks to implement an ABM within a specific language (i.e. NetLogo). The school aims to reach all scholars (at any stage of their career), post-docs, PhD students as well as research assistants and researchers in the private sector who are curious about ABM and plan to apply this method to their research activities.
To apply to ABM-SOC-NET 2021 (15 places available), please send by September 12 2021, to gianluca.manzo@sorbonne-universite.fr, a CV and a motivation letter describing past, current and/or foreseen research activities related to ABM.
School fees cover the attendance to all lectures and classes as well as meals and accommodation costs (single room) (from Sunday night to Friday afternoon). Only transportation costs remain at the attendee’s charge. Non-CNRS attendees: 500 E; PhD students: 300 E; Private-sector attendees: 750 E. The school is free of charge for CNRS staff (whatever the occupational status).
